Amazing You - TGIF Challenge Theme: Awesome Friends

January 19, 2018

You are simply AMAZING! It's true. I am so blessed to know and count so many people as awesome friends! Thank you for being a friend ...

Here is the card I created for this weeks theme challenge over at TGIF Challenges. The theme is AWESOME FRIENDS. Such a great theme and wonderful reason to make and send a card.

IMG_2086.jpg

This 'Simply Amazing' card showcases my first attempt into the fantastic world of Brusho. I'm a little late to this party but I've quickly become a major fan of the product. Do you know what Brusho is? Brusho Color Crystals is the official name and it is Watercolor ink crystals—Sprinkle them directly on water-washed paper and watch the colors burst!

The background and flowers on this card are watercolored with Brusho. The background uses 3 colors: yellow, gamboge, and brilliant red. The flowers use only gamboge.

A few reasons why Brusho rocks:
1.  The Brusho experience is cool. It is super fun to play with and experiment.
2. You never know what will happen exactly. It's like opening a present. Surprise!
3. A little goes a long way - this stuff will last forever!
4. There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.

Want to replicate how I achieve this look on the flowers? Me too! I did the same thing on all three flowers and each came out a little different. First I stamped the flower image in Archival Basic Black ink on watercolor paper. Next I painted in the flower shape with water only, I got it good and wet. Then I lightly shook a little gamboge Brusho onto the wet surface and let the color bleed and wander. Last I went back in with an Aqua painter and spread out the color in a few areas that the color didn't reach. See, totally unexpected result and super cool.

Now ... let's see what you make for your dear friends. Play along with us over on the TGIF Challenges blog. Be sure to check out the loads of AWESOME FRIEND card inspiration. Thanks for visiting!

Artisan Design Tip - Image Swap using Silicon Craft Sheet

January 16, 2018

Don't you just love it when you find a great new use for an everyday tool?  I was working with the Bird Banter stamp set and really wanted to have two toucans facing each other. I've seen many mirror technique tutorials but didn't have the tools required to easily create a mirror image. I started to look around my craft room and thought, I wonder if the Silicon craft sheet would work to transfer an image? It did!

Check out my quick 30 second video at the end of this post to see this mirror technique in action.

Create a mirror image of any stamp image using the Silicon Craft sheet! Simply stamp your image directly onto the mat and then press your cardstock firmly to the sheet to transfer the image onto the card stock. Voila, a mirror image! For best results be careful to stamp clearly and do not move or wiggle the paper when transferring the image.

It took me a few tries to get an image I liked. I have such shaky hands sometimes. This technique will work like a dream with the new Stamparatus stamp alignment tool. Until then I'll have to keep my shaky hands in check.

Petal Palette - Global Design Project Color Challenge #GDP121

It's COLOR Challenge time! I can't wait to see how you all interpret the color challenge that the Global Design Project has for you this week. It's bright, cheery and feels so fresh.

My card features the Petal Palette stamp set and Petal Passion papers from the Occasions mini catalog. Full supplies are listed out below. I've used this stamp set so much already. It's a total fav!

This card is all about MARKERS! The flower image on this card is a combination of the Designer Series papers (hand colored) and the stamp set.  I used my Stampin' Write Markers to color the designer series paper, and to ink the stamps. The larger flowers are colored in Sweet Sugarplum and I went over them quite a few times to increase the color saturation. I like how the Sweet Sugarplum appears a little darker on these flowers. I also used my Peekaboo Peach marker to color the White Taffeta ribbon. There is so much you can do with a good marker.

Are you ready to play? Check out what the team has created on the Global Design Project blog and show us your stuff! Happy stamping and see you next week.

Picture Perfect Birthday - Stamp Review Crew

Hello folks! Welcome back to another edition of Stamp Review. This hop we are reviewing the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set (shown left). And can I quickly say after using this set that I LOVE IT! I found it super easy to use. There are so many different elements and great verses and the handwritten font is BRILLIANT! This set is available in the Stampin' Up! Occasions mini catalog and there are a bunch of bright and trendy birthday accessories that coordinate with it.

My first card (Happiest of Birthdays) uses the dotted candle stamp image to create a simple background. This piece also mimics the look of washi tape. Super cool. The bow image is Calypso Coral stamped off ink for the top layer and full strength ink for the interior image.

The 'Today We Celebrate' card is perfect for making multiples. This card comes together quickly and would look great in alternate colors from the product suite. The large bow has been cut out from the Picture Perfect Designer Series papers and works as a great focal point. This bow is totally flat but has the appearance of being 3D, gotta love those photo realistic papers.

Now let's HOP! If you are traveling in order you just arrived from Tanya's blog. I want to shout a huge THANK YOU to Tanya who spends a great amount of time behind the scenes organizing a fantastic hop every couple of weeks. This is a talented group of stampers and all the inspiration provided is top notch. Next up is Holly. I can't wait to see how she used this stamp set. Until next time, happy stamping!

A sweet card for a sweet friend! We are CASING the amazing @tinkermom85 this week @global_design_project - I love how Wendy stamped on patterned paper to add a quick pop of color. I took a similar approach and stamped the berries from the 'Filled with Sweetness' stamp set onto red patterned paper. The green stems were stamped directly onto Garden Green cardstock and then cut out and layered onto the red berries. Play along and tag your project #gdp544 The acronym CASE typically stands for Copy And Share Everything (or sometimes Copy And Selectively Edit). It refers to finding inspiration in another person's card design-such as layout, colors, or techniques, and recreating it, either exactly or with minor changes. #stampinup #filledwithsweetness #cardmaker #cardmakingideas

I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones.
