Amazing You - TGIF Challenge Theme: Awesome Friends

January 19, 2018

You are simply AMAZING! It's true. I am so blessed to know and count so many people as awesome friends! Thank you for being a friend ...

Here is the card I created for this weeks theme challenge over at TGIF Challenges. The theme is AWESOME FRIENDS. Such a great theme and wonderful reason to make and send a card.

This 'Simply Amazing' card showcases my first attempt into the fantastic world of Brusho. I'm a little late to this party but I've quickly become a major fan of the product. Do you know what Brusho is? Brusho Color Crystals is the official name and it is Watercolor ink crystals—Sprinkle them directly on water-washed paper and watch the colors burst!

The background and flowers on this card are watercolored with Brusho. The background uses 3 colors: yellow, gamboge, and brilliant red. The flowers use only gamboge.

A few reasons why Brusho rocks:
1.  The Brusho experience is cool. It is super fun to play with and experiment.
2. You never know what will happen exactly. It's like opening a present. Surprise!
3. A little goes a long way - this stuff will last forever!
4. There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.

Want to replicate how I achieve this look on the flowers? Me too! I did the same thing on all three flowers and each came out a little different. First I stamped the flower image in Archival Basic Black ink on watercolor paper. Next I painted in the flower shape with water only, I got it good and wet. Then I lightly shook a little gamboge Brusho onto the wet surface and let the color bleed and wander. Last I went back in with an Aqua painter and spread out the color in a few areas that the color didn't reach. See, totally unexpected result and super cool.

Now ... let's see what you make for your dear friends. Play along with us over on the TGIF Challenges blog. Be sure to check out the loads of AWESOME FRIEND card inspiration. Thanks for visiting!

Today I’m using products from my stash and went with a simple 3 color monochromic color card. I’ve cased the designer card at @global_design_project #gdp532 and used layers of flat and embossed paper for a little extra touch. ❤️ Check out what my creative friends made this week. This would be so easy to re-create with any alphabet set. The notebook sheet is my favorite and is from the Just a Note dies. Stitching on a card … I ❤️ tiny details. The pierced holes on this die cut heart created the perfect template for sewing a simple stitch around the perimeter with white bakers twine. I created a heart pennant banner using smaller die cuts and the same twine. I love tiny details. #stampinup #endlesslove #valentinecard #cardmaker #cardmakingreels
