Alpine Adventure - Repost of Stampin' Up! FB page.

October 12, 2018

Note: this is repost of a FB note post that first appeared on Stampin’ Up!’s facebook page on October 11th.

Photo 2 Alpine Adventure bundle.jpg

Hello friends! Are you ready to go on a little adventure ... an Alpine Adventure? I had a blast playing around with the wintery images in this stamp set with the Stamparatus and am excited to share a few ideas with you.

I’m a big fan of winter sports so I was thrilled to see the Alpine Adventure Photopolymer Bundle (item 149919)in the Holiday catalog. The bundle includes 17 stamp images and 12 dies.

Photo 3 Stamparatus 1.jpg

Creating this perfectly repeating snowshoe background was a breeze using the Stamparatus (item 146276). The snowshoe stamp image is the perfect size to repeat using the hinge step. The snowshoe has been stamped in Gray Granite Classic ink(item 147118) onto a piece of Gray Granite cardstock (item 146983).  Stamp one row of snowshoes with the snowshoe faced up (ink image, stamp, move hinge). Then align the snowshoe stamp in the open area upside down to create the second row (ink image, stamp, move hinge). Continue this process until the entire sheet is covered with snowshoes.

This bundle is full of great support images. I added a couple of die cut snowflakes, jingle bells, a greeting and a bow. Then I layered the assembled card front onto a piece of Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper(item 147820) to finish the card.

Photo 4 Alpine Adventure.jpg

Here’s another card using the snowshoe to create a similar background. This time the snowshoe image has been stamped in Bermuda Bay Classic Ink(item 147096) on Whisper White Cardstock(item 100730). The greeting has been stamped in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink (item 147083) and layered onto the background. This card also uses Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon(item 144117), which I think coordinates perfectly with the designs this stamp set.

Here are a few more cards showcasing this bundle.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little set sampler. It’s nice to have some winter play without the cold fingers and toes. Have a great day!

Easy Ombré with Stampin' Blends

September 19, 2018
Charlet Mallett Instagram tip 2a.jpg

Hello! It’s so fun to see my work featured on the Stampin’ Up! Instagram and Facebook pages. It’s a nice perk to being an Artisan Design team member. I was featured this month on SU’s instagram showing how to use your Stampin’ Blends to create an easy ombré look.

“I love the look of ombré sentiments on cards. Create this awesome look quickly & easily using Stampin’ Blends. Choose shades of similar colors and roughly color your cardstock from light to dark. Blend colors together and then die-cut your sentiment. So fun!” I hope this idea inspired you to pull out your Stampin’ Blends and use them in a different way.

This card features the Thank You thinlet die and the Love You To Pieces stamp set and die bundle. A full list of supplies can be found below.

The Stampin’ Blends colors used for this pink Thank You:

Another quick tip: Keep the puzzle die cuts in the die, add adhesive and then adhere to the card front before you remove the die. This will keep all the puzzle pieces together and make the assembly so much easier.

Now let’s flip it! Same idea / technique but shown in greens. This card features Thank You Thinlet and the Tropical Chic stamp set and papers.

Which do you prefer, the pink or green version? Are you ready to give it a try? I’d love to see what you make. Tag me it you try it. Happy stamping.

Sunshine & Rainbows - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

April 19, 2018

Hello and welcome back to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design team blog hop. This edition we are featuring the playful Sunshine & Rainbows stamp set and coordinating dies. I'm excited to share two bright and beautiful cards with you today.

First off, the products used on my cards are currently available in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog and annual catalog. I created these cards before Stampin' Up! announced their retired products list. So, these cards DO feature a few items that will be going away May 31st (specifically colors: Sweet Sugarplum & Peekaboo Peach). If you love these products as much as I do grab these items now, while supplies last.

Now onto the cards. I really like the idea of something special at the end of a rainbow ... how about a bouquet of flowers? Or perhaps a cloud of iridescent sequins? Options are endless and oh so pretty. Both of these cards take a fun approach to treasure at the end of a rainbow.

Sunshine & Rainbows 2.jpg
Sunshine & Rainbows (8 of 10).jpg

The flowers are the end of this rainbow were created using the Blossom Builder Punch.  Each flower has been punched in the same color as the corresponding rainbow stripe. I added a little pearl accents to the center of each of these flowers and stained these pearls with a similar matching Stampin' Blend marker.  This is a fun little detail and adds a special touch.

Sunshine & Rainbows 3.jpg
Sunshine & Rainbows 5.jpg

Here is a fun approach for a shaker card. Make that shaker work for you inside and out! This shaker window full of sequins can be seen from the front of the card and then once opened, seen from the inside as well. The natural motion of opening the card also allows the sequins to fall, creating a nice WOW once the card is opened.

Creating a matching window for the inside of the shaker is easy to do by flipping your paper over once die cut to match up with the front.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed these projects. I am super excited to see what the other Artisan designers have in store. I am ready to be inspired! Next up is the super talented Connie Collins.

Artisan Design Tip - Image Swap using Silicon Craft Sheet

January 16, 2018

Don't you just love it when you find a great new use for an everyday tool?  I was working with the Bird Banter stamp set and really wanted to have two toucans facing each other. I've seen many mirror technique tutorials but didn't have the tools required to easily create a mirror image. I started to look around my craft room and thought, I wonder if the Silicon craft sheet would work to transfer an image? It did!

Check out my quick 30 second video at the end of this post to see this mirror technique in action.

Charlet Mallett, Jan 18 Instagram tip 1.jpg
Charlet Mallett, Jan 18 Instagram tip 2.jpg

Create a mirror image of any stamp image using the Silicon Craft sheet! Simply stamp your image directly onto the mat and then press your cardstock firmly to the sheet to transfer the image onto the card stock. Voila, a mirror image! For best results be careful to stamp clearly and do not move or wiggle the paper when transferring the image.

It took me a few tries to get an image I liked. I have such shaky hands sometimes. This technique will work like a dream with the new Stamparatus stamp alignment tool. Until then I'll have to keep my shaky hands in check.

This blue and purple winter card uses tidbits from the Calm & Bright kit. I used the negative shape from the fir die cut to create a stencil and layered from there. Blend, stencil, stamp. Sending Joy! I created this wintry scene using the Calm and Bright card kit. I love the look of white on white. I pulled in some gold embossing and Crumb Cake to balance out all that white.
