So Senitmental (2 of 3).jpg

Hello again! Welcome to our last Crafty Festival Of Christmas blog hop. A refresher … I am making and sharing holiday projects every Friday until Christmas in an event my friends and I are calling the ‘CRAFTY Festival of Christmas’. Every week we will feature a different theme.

Check out our previous hops:

  1. Snarky or Snowy cards

  2. Fancy fold or Mass production projects

  3. This week our theme is Gift card holders or tags

  4. I missed this one but you can start here

  5. Last Minute Lucy

Neighbor gifts always seem to be the last project I tackle. This year I made a double batch of caramel and packaged in disposable case. I normally cut and wrap each caramel individually however due to lack of time I opted to give out containers full of caramel. Caramel recipe is at the end of this post. Yum!

Yummilicious, such a funny non-word sentiment. This stamp image is from the stamp set called ‘So Sentimental’. This set will be available Jan 3 from Stampin’ Up! Full supply list can be found below.

Blog Roll:

Monday Montage 154 - Candy Cane Card

December 15, 2019
bannermm2017.png

Hey there Sugar Plums! The Montage Montage crew is back today to share what we are working on. I’m still making Holiday cards.

This card is so SWEET! These candy canes look like they are dancing, right? Kinda of reminds me of ‘Twas the night before Christmas poem … ‘visions of sugar plums danced in their heads’. If only the sugar plums were candy canes, lol.

This fun dancing candy cane pattern is available in the Night Before Christmas Paper stack. A full list of supplies can be found at the end of this post.

Did you know? The first candy cane was not made in the shape of a cane. It was white, completely straight and only flavored with sugar. Legend has it that in 1670, the cane shaped candy became historical when a choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar-sticks into canes to appear as shepherd's hooks. Candy canes are 350 years old!

The Monday Montage crew is a talented bunch. A quick refresher, the Montage gals host a blog hop every other Monday showing you fun and exciting Stampin’ Up! products. A Visit from St. Nicholas

Clement Clarke Moore - 1779-1863

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her ’kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Festival of Christmas - Gift cards or tags

December 6, 2019

FOC tags and gift card (11 of 13).jpg

Hello again! Welcome to another Crafty Festival Of Christmas blog hop.

I' love decorating gifts and this year and I tagging all those gifts with a little ornament. I like how it pushes the gift a little bit farther.

My mantra this season: Simple, Simple, SIMPLE! Simple is key. It doesn’t take much to add a little handmade flair to those gifts. My Christmas crafting in general is very simple because it is such a busy time of year.

These candy cane ornaments have been dressed up with a few stamped images from the Winter Gifts stamp set and sparkly enamel dots. Easy peasy!

FOC tags and gift card (5 of 13).jpg

This next set of simple tags incorporates a few craft store goodies (tiny ornaments and plastic fir sprigs). These have been hot glued onto super thick white card stock. The card stock has been punched into a tag shape and stamped with a simple ”to: from:” sentiment. I made a dozen or so of these and have them at the ready to attached to any gift. The generic color scheme makes this easy to coordinate.

FOC tags and gift card (3 of 13).jpg
FOC tags and gift card (4 of 13).jpg

I also made a few more gift card holders. Again, simple is key. These gift card holders are folded from wood paper and have a tiny bottle brush tree tied to the plaid belly band. The belly band slides on and off the gift card holder easily.

The gift card holder paper measurement is 3” x 6”. I have scored at 1.75” and 4.25”. These are roll folded. Then, with a hobby blade, I added a few slots on the interior to hold the gift card.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week! The full blog link up can be found below.
