Sea of Textures - Stamp Review Crew

July 29, 2018
Stamp Review Crew blog banner(2).png

Welcome to another edition of the Stamp Review. This week we are reviewing Sea of Textures. This set is all about the ocean life and texture. It's such a fun set to play around with and every project ends up having a very eclectic and unique look.

This stamp set has coordinating framelits that cut out a few of the stamp images, and also a few stand alone die cut ocean shapes.

My first card features the Octopus and and net stamp images. The background was created with a little Brusho color crystals. It kind of looks like the Octopus inked a little. Oops. To create this look I created an oval with with a water brush and dropped a little moss green Brusho onto the wet shape and watched the magic. The Octopus is stamped in Night of Navy.

This next card also features the Octopus. This time he is stamped in Gorgeous Grape and Blackberry Bliss using my Stamparatus and the rock 'n roll technique. I love these two colors together.

For the background I used the net die to create a stencil and filled in with silver embossing paste. Fun, fun.

Are you ready for a little underwater exploring? Next up is Ann. I can't wait to see her take on this stamp set. Thanks for visiting and please know I appreciate you and your lovely comments.

A BIG Thank You! - Global Design Project - CASE Connie Collins

July 23, 2018
GDP148.jpg

This week the Global Design Project is casing longtime Artisan and super talented Connie Collins! I love Connie's style. I find her projects super detailed, full of depth and texture, and always RICH in color. Her layouts are also so well designed.

Here is my attempt to mimic her style. I opted to use the same papers (Share What You Love) and colors that Connie used on her card. I hand cut the large purple flowers and leaves directly from a sheet of the papers.  The only item that is stamped on this card is the sentiment. This large greeting is from the A BIG THANK YOU stamp set.

Are you ready to see what the team has create inspired by Connie? Visit the Global Design Project blog and play along! #GDP148

Do you see this texture on the Crumb Cake cardstock (to the right)? The texture is created with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions folder. This is a genius product! How smart is it to be able to turn any smooth card stock into a textured card stock?! This folder has to be my most favorite tool right now.

Alright, ready to play along? Visit the Global Design Project blog to see more inspiration, get details and to submit your project. Thanks for visiting.

Pop of Petals - TGIFC169 - Heat Embossing

July 20, 2018
TGIFC169.jpg

Heat embossing is such a magical technique. I remember the first time someone showed me how to use embossing powder. It was amazing! I think we heated the powder over a toaster. LOL. We've come a long way.

My card for TGIF Challenge 169 (#TGIFC169) is bright, summery and shows a mix of Stampin' Up!'s new InColor embossing powders. I love these bright new powders.

How I achieved this gradient look ...

1. Stamp verse in Versamark ink.
2. Spoon out a tiny amount of Pineapple Punch embossing powder and drop along the top of the image. Be careful to dump the excess away from the lower half of the image.
3. Spoon out a tiny amount of Lovely Lipstick embossing powder and drop along the bottom of the image. Be careful to dump the excess away from the upper half of the image.
4. Fill in the middle of the image with Grapefruit Grove embossing powder.
5. Fill in empty areas with small amounts of powder as needed.

Are you ready to show off your heat embossing skills? Play along with us this week. (#TGIFC169)

Broadway Birthday - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

July 19, 2018

HOORAY! Hello again friends. Welcome to another Stampin' Up! Artisan blog hop. Lights, camera ... cardmaking. Are you ready? This round we are featuring the Broadway Birthday suite of products.

Broadway Birthday (5 of 22) artisan.jpg
Broadway Birthday (6 of 22).jpg

We had a big birthday in our household recently. My middle child turned 16 and is now in the process of getting his driver's license. This suite was the perfect choice for creating him a custom card. The coordinating papers have a strong color palette however I decided to take this suite a little masculine and swapped out the color Lovely Lipstick for Night of Navy & Tranquil Tide. I think this swap out looks fantastic and totally changes the look of this suite / papers.

I created this custom 16th birthday card by hand cutting a one and a six from the Gold Embossed number sheet from the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Papers. You could easily create a custom card to celebrate any year, just swap out the numbers. Since the papers feature metallic gold I opted to use the metallic gold pearls to adorn the Lemon Lime Twist frame.

IMG_7143.JPG

I tried to match the balloon decor to Ben's card. It worked out pretty close.

Both of my cards feature the Broadway Birthday Stamp set, Broadway Lights Framelits, Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Papers & Metallic Pearls. A full list of supplies can be found below

This hooray balloon card (below) uses the same colors and would be good for any recipient. A good generic birthday card is a nice thing to have at the ready for birthday emergencies. Since I am a mom of 3 boys it seems there is always a birthday emergency (party, gift or card needed at the last minute).

Do you like this harlequin diecut background? I created this using the diamond border die and multiple passes through my Big Shot.  Getting the spacing even was easy to achieve by lining up the edge of the die with the pattern openings.  I was able to smooth out any unwanted die lines by passing the paper through the Big Shot once again when finished using the thin silicone rubber mat from the Big Shot Embossing Mats.

Thanks for stopping and please know I appreciate YOU and all of your lovely comments. Our next STAR is fellow artisan, Connie Collins. Have a great day!

Water & ink. I used water and classic ink to create this soft pastel card. Paper: watercolor paper. I used a variety of flower punches from my collection to create the multi-layered flowers. I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge.
