P.S. You're the Best - Global Design Project - Color Challenge

July 30, 2018

Hooray for color challenges and really cool typewriters. I love typewriter stamps and collect them whenever I can find them. I was so excited to see a typewriter in this new Stampin' Up! set 'P.S. You're the Best'. I had to use it immediately for this weeks Global Design Project.

The colors we are challenging you to use in your project this week are Lovely Lipstick, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy. I got a little inky with my card background using these colors in classic ink reinkers to watercolor with.  While I know that the typewriter ink would not bleed this way I still like the inky look paired with this image. I added a few little layered details behind the typewriter to create that messy desk look.

Are you ready to play along with us? Check out more inspiration in these colors on the Global Design Project and play along. Tag your projects #GDP149.  Happy Stamping!

A BIG Thank You! - Global Design Project - CASE Connie Collins

July 23, 2018
GDP148.jpg

This week the Global Design Project is casing longtime Artisan and super talented Connie Collins! I love Connie's style. I find her projects super detailed, full of depth and texture, and always RICH in color. Her layouts are also so well designed.

Here is my attempt to mimic her style. I opted to use the same papers (Share What You Love) and colors that Connie used on her card. I hand cut the large purple flowers and leaves directly from a sheet of the papers.  The only item that is stamped on this card is the sentiment. This large greeting is from the A BIG THANK YOU stamp set.

Are you ready to see what the team has create inspired by Connie? Visit the Global Design Project blog and play along! #GDP148

Do you see this texture on the Crumb Cake cardstock (to the right)? The texture is created with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions folder. This is a genius product! How smart is it to be able to turn any smooth card stock into a textured card stock?! This folder has to be my most favorite tool right now.

Alright, ready to play along? Visit the Global Design Project blog to see more inspiration, get details and to submit your project. Thanks for visiting.

A BIG Thank You! - Global Design Project - Color Challenge

I love COLOR CHALLENGES! They always push me to think a little differently and put colors together I would ordinarily overlook.  This week the Global Design Project has a color challenge for you: Grapefruit Grove, Fresh Fig and Mint Macaron.  #gdp145

Have you seen the A BIG THANK YOU bundle in the Stampin Up! catalog? It's a hidden gem that hasn't gotten much play in my craft room yet. In fact this is the FIRST project I've made with the bundle, and I'm in love. The THANK YOU Die is fantastic (this is the large white Thank You shown on my card), I will be using this often.

The stamp set has unique sentiments and so many fun little pieces that can be used in many ways. I'm LIKING the little striped border. I created a long border with this along the bottom of my card. So fun! I will be using this now that the diagonal background stamp is retired. Also, I'm liking the funky and graphic flowers, leaves and border elements in this set. I can't wait to try and make pattern with these elements.

I created a watercolor wash using the Grapefruit Grove and Fresh Fig ink with an aqua painter - my goal was to have these colors blend into each other without getting muddy when they blended. I think it worked out ok. FYI - if you add Mint Macaron IT WILL GET MUDDY.  Lol.

The flowers in this set are 2-step. For the larger flower I first stamped the outline in black ink. Then I stamped off the solid flower image in Grapefruit Grove. Then I colored the interior petals with a Grapefruit Grove marker for that two-tone look.

I added a few faceted dots to the flower centers for dimension. The flowers and leaves are all hand cut but fairly simple to cut out.

What do you think? Are you ready to give this color combo a try? More inspiration from the fabulous GDP designers and participation details can be found on the Global Design Project Blog. Happy stamping!

Water & ink. I used water and classic ink to create this soft pastel card. Paper: watercolor paper. I used a variety of flower punches from my collection to create the multi-layered flowers. This card has so much dimension and is meant for hand delivery! 🤣 Use your stash! #stampinup #useyourstash #cardmaker #cardmakingreel

When I think of pastel I think watercolor. For this month our 'Use Your Stash' theme is PRETTY PASTEL. I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge.
