Organize your Stampin' Up! PAPER by COLOR!

April 18, 2018

Every year about this time I start the process of reorganizing my work space.  Out with the old and in with the new, right? While I don't purge as much as I should I am good about keeping current products organized and ready to go.

IMG_6291.jpg

I thought I'd show you the simply way I store my papers. I have decided after years and years of keeping them in Stampin' Up! color families that I prefer to store my colors in spectrum order.  I like the way this looks and I find it is more intuitive to the way I use my paper.  If I'm looking for a pink, all of my pinks are together. I use the job ticket method (I copied this from Jennifer McQuire), for all of my current colors.  I file away my retired colors alphabetically in labeled file folders. This way I still have them easily on hand for projects. And, you never know when a retired color might come back! I'm happy to pull a few old favorites back into rotation, hello Mint Macaron.

So here is my tip. Keep it EASY and don't reinvent the wheel! I use the Stampin' Up! catalog color pages to create my labels.  Basically print and cut.

Three things I like about this method:
1. The color names are already typed out and spelled correctly. TIME SAVER!
2. There is a visual color key that closely matches the cardstock.
3. Once cut out, the labels are sized perfectly to adhere to Avery job tickets or in a standard file folder tab.

So... there are a couple ways you can do this (I know this is hard to do right now as everyone doesn't have access). Stay with me...

1. Cut up your new catalog - GASP! I would never do this. J/K - I have been known to do this but usually at the end of a catalog year, not the beginning.

2. Make a color copy of your hard copy catalog color pages or print them from the online catalog PDF. This is my preferred method. The online copy is available to customers starting June 1.

3. Download and print these handy graphics (provided to us from Stampin' up!). I really appreciate SU making this graphic available to us. I've set these graphics up on an 8.5 x 11 sheet for easy printing. Grab it here.

SPEAKING OF NEW: ICYMI - here are the new colors that Stampin' UP! will be adding to their color collections. I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on these colors. Soft Sea Foam is screaming my name.

Hello and welcome back. I am posting again today in hopes to bring more awareness to autism and autism research.  This fun group of talented paper crafters are creating projects to help bring information and awareness to you. Below you'll find links to the blogs in this Hop. Along this hop you'll find tons of fabulous ideas and a boatload of information surrounding autism.

My card today uses a fun new stamp set, Animal Outing from Stampin' Up! that will be available to purchase June 1st. This set was gifted to me at the most recent Stampin' Up! demonstrator event. Yep, I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and love this companies products. I find there is always a product to fit a specific need. I feel this stamp set is a perfect set to use for my card today.

ICYMI - April 2nd was World Autism Awareness Day and I was thrilled to participate in another blog hop to bring awareness to this important issue. You can check out that hop and those projects beginning here.

A sweet card for a sweet friend! We are CASING the amazing @tinkermom85 this week @global_design_project - I love how Wendy stamped on patterned paper to add a quick pop of color. I took a similar approach and stamped the berries from the 'Filled with Sweetness' stamp set onto red patterned paper. The green stems were stamped directly onto Garden Green cardstock and then cut out and layered onto the red berries. Play along and tag your project #gdp544 The acronym CASE typically stands for Copy And Share Everything (or sometimes Copy And Selectively Edit). It refers to finding inspiration in another person's card design-such as layout, colors, or techniques, and recreating it, either exactly or with minor changes. #stampinup #filledwithsweetness #cardmaker #cardmakingideas
Water & ink. I used water and classic ink to create this soft pastel card. Paper: watercolor paper. I used a variety of flower punches from my collection to create the multi-layered flowers. This card has so much dimension and is meant for hand delivery! 🤣 Use your stash! #stampinup #useyourstash #cardmaker #cardmakingreel

When I think of pastel I think watercolor. For this month our 'Use Your Stash' theme is PRETTY PASTEL. I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge. UYS is a monthly instagram hop where my friends and I get crafty and use what we have on hand to create a project around a certain theme. Use those supplies! Cute little chicks lined up in a row … I was eyeballing it to try my hand at stamp alignment with this new Stampin’ Positioner tool. My free form is not perfect, but it doesn’t matter in the end when you mount your card crooked. 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥 🤣 Stamp set is called Easter Basket and it’s on the last chance list.
