Stamp Review Crew - Swirly Bird

January 1, 2017

Happy New Year and welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Swirly Bird Edition. I am so excited for this new year and the opportunity to stamp and further my craft. The stamp set the crew is focusing on this week is Swirly Bird. The card I am sharing today gives me a bright and fresh feeling ... the perfect way to describe 2017.

The yellow background was created by repeatedly stamping the swirly rose image to create a repeating pattern. Next I softened the background with a blender pen adding just a touch of a watercolor wash. I like the overall effect.

This card also features ALL THINGS THANKS, a fun new verse set from the Occasions mini catalog. I always have the need for a thank you card and the verse 'you are amazing' is the perfect sentiment to say thanks in a different way.

Blending Brush fail … but I made this card work in the end. The paper on the Specialty Embossed Cards has a little tooth and I could not get a smooth blend. Enter operation cover it all up. Haha. This blue and purple winter card uses tidbits from the Calm & Bright kit. I used the negative shape from the fir die cut to create a stencil and layered from there. Blend, stencil, stamp. Masking and stamping! On this card I mask with tape, blend ink, then stamp, then stencil, and stamp again to create a layered scene.
