Merry Everything Star card

Merry Everything Star card

Merry Everything Star Card

October 17, 2014

This Merry Everything Star card was created as a last minute swap for Jill Olsen's St. George event. The name is appropriate because it uses just about everything from the holiday mini. Well... not really everything but I did use a bunch of products from the holiday catalog—lots of punches, embossing and die cuts. This card was a prize winner?! Woohoo.

This card is nice and neutral with pops of traditional red and green. Things to note: I cut off the top of the Note Tag punch to create the rounded rectangle shape that houses the Merry Christmas phrase. The 25 star comes from the 25 days advent calendar set.

Blending Brush fail … but I made this card work in the end. The paper on the Specialty Embossed Cards has a little tooth and I could not get a smooth blend. Enter operation cover it all up. Haha. This blue and purple winter card uses tidbits from the Calm & Bright kit. I used the negative shape from the fir die cut to create a stencil and layered from there. Blend, stencil, stamp. Masking and stamping! On this card I mask with tape, blend ink, then stamp, then stencil, and stamp again to create a layered scene. It’s so satisfying to remove the masking tape… always a fun reveal.
