Occasionally I cook, more like bake... I'm always looking for a great recipe to try and repeat. Many of the recipes documented here come from my need to use up our garden goodies. All of the recipes are tried. I recently gathered up recipes cards from my late Grandma Brooks. The Recipe Project started with my desire to type up and test many recipes from the kitchen of my Grandma, Anita June Loe Brooks. When I make them, I'll tag each of Grandma's recipes and hopefully provide reviews, tips and sometimes photos for each dish. I hope you enjoy.

Some of the recipes from my old blog have not converted properly. Search 'recipe' and you'll find a more complete list.

Blueberry Muffins (Jordan Marsh’s)

July 9, 2018

Nic and I picked a bunch of blueberries today. We wandered over to Westward Orchards in Harvard. Pick your own blueberries are 3.99 a pound and are gorgeous! July is the month for blueberries in Massachusetts. We decided to have an all things blueberry day. On the agenda: muffins, smoothies and blueberry pancakes. Now that we've exhausted our first picking we will certainly be back!

I spent a little time looking for a good muffin recipe and came across this one. After testing this blueberry muffin recipe is a KEEPER. It's a must try if you like blueberries & muffins. The original source can be found here. I've pasted the recipe below for my personal future reference.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups blueberries, washed, drained and picked over
  • 3 teaspoons sugar

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat the oven to 375.
  2. Cream the butter and 1 1/4 cups sugar until light.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.
  4. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder, and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
  5. Crush 1/2 cup blueberries with a fork, and mix into the batter. Fold in the remaining whole berries.
  6. Line a 12 cup standard muffin tin with cupcake liners, and fill with batter. Sprinkle the 3 teaspoons sugar over the tops of the muffins, and bake at 375 degrees for about 30-35 minutes.
  7. Remove muffins from tin and cool at least 30 minutes. Store, uncovered, or the muffins will be too moist the second day, if they last that long.

A sweet card for a sweet friend! We are CASING the amazing @tinkermom85 this week @global_design_project - I love how Wendy stamped on patterned paper to add a quick pop of color. I took a similar approach and stamped the berries from the 'Filled with Sweetness' stamp set onto red patterned paper. The green stems were stamped directly onto Garden Green cardstock and then cut out and layered onto the red berries. Play along and tag your project #gdp544 The acronym CASE typically stands for Copy And Share Everything (or sometimes Copy And Selectively Edit). It refers to finding inspiration in another person's card design-such as layout, colors, or techniques, and recreating it, either exactly or with minor changes. #stampinup #filledwithsweetness #cardmaker #cardmakingideas
Water & ink. I used water and classic ink to create this soft pastel card. Paper: watercolor paper. I used a variety of flower punches from my collection to create the multi-layered flowers. This card has so much dimension and is meant for hand delivery! 🤣 Use your stash! #stampinup #useyourstash #cardmaker #cardmakingreel
