Background Bits - TGIF Challenge Summertime Blues

It's a Theme Challenge this week over at TGIF Challenges. Every Friday the TGIF Challenge team creates projects based off a specific theme, layout, color scheme or stamp set. The theme this week is Summertime Blues.

Stamping is totally the cure for the summertime blues. My summery / blue themed project includes a blue pocket full of bright, summery flowers. I don't really have the summertime blues, but I do have the summertime busies. We have been so busy around here. I squeezed this card in super last minute.

The stamp set on this card is Background Bits. It is a host rewards set and can be earned with a qualifying party or purchase. The pocket comes from the Pocket Framelit Dies. I added a little white stitching around the pocket with my sewing machine.

Chris and I are in LA this weekend. I get to observe while he presents his final defense for his dissertation. He needed three Thank You cards to give to his dissertation chair so I decided to make 3 very different Thank You cards using the same stamp image from One Big Meaning.

Thankful Forest Friends - WWYS Challenge #37

Thankful Forest Friends is the challenge stamp set for this week's (WWYS) What Will You Stamp Design team. This set is so much fun to use and is easy to ink with Stampin' Write markers.

To create the pattern in the background I stamped the small leaf sprig over and over. I used a similar technique last week with my For all Things card. When I find a technique I like I tend to use it a few times. :)

Grateful Card - Acorny Thank You

I sure do love a good pun, even a corny one. The 'Acorny' Thank You set has a few corny phrases but also has some basic traditional phrases. On this card I opted for a more traditional use. It's a great new set from the Holiday catalog, easy to use, and fun to work with. And has a coordinating punch ... bonus! This card I created is quite simple in layout. It also uses the new Seasonal Frame Thinlits — the circle shape from the thinlits is the exact diameter of the solid circle on the paper doilies making the doily a nice frame for the acorn image.
