Here is my contribution to this weeks challenge using the upcoming ‘Free as a Bird’ stamp set and the Bird Ballad designer series papers. Both of these items along with the fun embellishments on this card are avialable for purchase starting June 4th.

The bird image has been colored using Stampin’ Blends. I have hand trimmed out the image using an Xacto-Knife. The card was assembled following this sketch closely.

HELLO friends! Welcome to the Creating Kindness Around the World Hop. CREATING KINDNESS: We are a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world who have come together to inspire you to create kindness through cardmaking and paper. Every month we create around a theme or idea and this months theme is SHADOWBOX card. And, every month, we invite a guest to design with us. Our guest designer is the amazing Heike Bolze!

Shadowbox. What does it mean?
NOUN 1. a case with a protective transparent front, used for displaying jewelry, coins, or other small objects.

I’ve tried to emulate that look on my first ever attempt at a shadow box. The ‘case or container’ is the card. My ‘transparent front’ is the open window frame created with the Stitched Rectangle die. And the small objects for display are the various flowers, birds and the sentiment from the ‘Free As A Bird’ stamp set. Pretty simple if you follow the formula. I really loved working on this card and will definitely try this again.

There are many ways to create this look. Fortunately many of my friends on this hop have videos that share how they created their cards. Hopefully these get your brain spinning and help you making your own version of a shadowbox card. Thanks for stopping by!
