Welcome to another TGIF Challenge! This week is a Technique challenge. We were charged with mimicking the look of Bokeh style photography. Taken from the TGIF blog "Bokeh is a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, Bokeh (pronounced "boo-kay" or "bow-kay) has been a fun stamping technique that has been floating around for a while."
I'm sharing two cards this week that approach this look in two very different ways.
This first card features the Lovely Inside & Out Stamp set. For the background I approached creating the Bokeh technique in layers.
1. First layer is simple piece of designer series paper.
2. Second layer is random circles daubed in Craft Whisper White Ink. To create those circles I first punched out a varity of handmade stencils using circle punches. Next I randomly layered and inked in those circles with Craft Whisper White Ink and a sponge dauber.
3. On the third layer I stamped a few circle starburst images in Whisper White. I was trying to add a little more visual interest. These are a little hard to see.
4. Lastly, I used the circle stencils and fill them in with a bit of embossing paste. I like how the embossing paste adds a little more depth.
This second card uses the Stamp set Happy Celebrations to create the look of Bokeh. The circle image in the stamp set makes it super simple to achieve the Bokeh look. Stamp the circle and overlap in different ink colors & tones.
