Blended Seasons - What Will You Stamp 183

I've been a little MIA on the What Will You Stamp front. It seems I haven't had many of the sets for the last few challenges. Ah well, that's how it goes sometimes.  

The challenge set this week is Blended Seasons. I certainly have this set and have been using it a TON! You can see all of my Blended Seasons projects along with more projects from other Stampin' Up! Artisan Design team members on our special Blended Seasons Pinterest board here. 

Today I am sharing two fall cards I've created with the set. There are two leaf images in the  set and I've opted to showcase on one each card. Do you like this set? If so, grab it this week as it will no longer be available after August 31st.

Artisan Design Hop - Color Your Season Promotion

Hello and welcome back to another Stampin' Up Artisan Blog Hop. What colors do you think of when you imagine summer? For me it strong bright colors, yellows and purples. I planted yellow petunias this summer in my flower pots and they really bloomed and exploded color (although they are now looking a little weathered from the summer heat). I tried to recreate that full bloom look on this first card. This card uses flower image from the stamp set. I stamped a full background and colored with the Crushed Curry watercolor pencil to try to capture that burst of yellow color. That blue summery sky is colored with the Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue watercolor pencils and the leaves are colored with Granny Apple Green.

I used the negative space from the large label die to create a window for these yellow flowers to peek through and I save the large label interior shape to use on my next card, shown below.

This THANK YOU card is all about PURPLE. I'm loving the new purple additions to the Stampin' Up!  color line. The background cardstock color is Highland Heather (embossed with the Striped Scallops Embossing Folder). The flowers are colored with the Gorgeous Grape and Night of Navy watercolor pencils. Pairing these two pencil colors gave me a rich and bright purple. The leaves are colored using that bright Granny Apple Green pencil.

Details ... You can't really see it sparkle in these photos but I added a little Wink of Stella to the flower centers and the flower buds for a little bit of texture. 

TIP: These purple flowers are hand cut with scissors (AKA fussy cut). Sometimes my cutting skills are not totally perfect. Actually, most times. LOL. It's hard to have every cut match the outline exactly. To hid this and finish off the look I colored the perimeter edge of the hand cut image with a black Stampin' Write marker. I love this look and it really makes the flowers pop off that label. Give it a try sometime.

Alrighty! Let's talk about the projects I'm sharing. The Artisan Design Team was asked to create projects targeting specific season. The season I am featuring is FALL. Harvest time and falling leaves are some of the imagery that comes to mind when I think of the Fall.  

This 'Falling Leaves' card features the leaves image from the stamp set as well as the leaf die from the Stitched Season dies. I've also used the large stitched label shape shown behind the leaves.

The stamped leaves are colored with the Cajun Craze, Flirty Flamingo and Crushed Curry watercolor pencils directly onto watercolor paper. The colors are blended and lightened by adding water from an Aqua Painter. Flirty Flamingo might not seem an obvious color choice for fall but I found the way this color blends with Cajun Craze made these maple leaves pop! Love it.

This 'Harvest Thank You' card features the wheat image from the stamp set. This image is colored using the Crushed Curry and Granny Apple Green watercolor pencils. The background behind the wheat is also created using the watercolor pencils. Simply color a shape (I used Coastal Cabana on my project) and blend with water. The examples shown below use Crushed Curry and Granny Apple Green watercolor pencils.

Both of my cards today also feature the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impression embossing folder. I love how the look/feel of wood adds a bit of texture to these cards. This is folder is a GO TO staple in my crafting.
