Fancy Friday Blog Hop - For the Men

HELLO! Welcome to another Fancy Friday blog hop. This month’s hop is focusing on projects for the MEN in our lives. What stamp set would you pull out if you were making a card for a guy? Sometimes it can be tricky.

Today I am using the Rustic Retreat stamp set. It has a lot of great rustic images that might resonate with the type of guy who likes the outdoors, animals and earthy colors.

The card design was inspired by my coffee mug. I collect starbucks coffee mugs. I love the layout, colors and design of the new Utah mug. I decided to use the images in the set in a similar manner and create my own background. I made two very similar cards. I couldn't decide if I liked the card or not so I took another stab at it.

What do you think? Is one more successful than the other? I’m still on the fence. Sometimes I can really nail a good masculine card and other times … well, I’m sure you can relate. Lol.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - The Gift of Fall

Hello and welcome the the Paper Pumpkin Thing monthly blog hop where we share alternate products for the kits contents. This month’s Paper Pumpkin kit is called ‘The Gift of Fall’.

This kit is all about gift giving. 6 gift bags and tons of supplies to make multiple tags. Now, if gift giving isn’t your thing, there are tons of ideas on this blog hop sharing how to use the supplies to make cards. I made this kit up and created 5 bags and tags as directed. This is a super cute and quick to assemble kit. I had so many supplies left that I could easily make a bunch of cards by just adding cardstock.

I made one more bag and tag and altered the design a bit. I changed up that last bag by stamping directly onto the bag using the berry sprig stamp repeatedly in Merry Merlot. Then I used an aqua painter and pulled the Merry Merlot color from the berry sprig stamp into each berry for a soft watercolor looking berry. The tag uses bits and scraps leftover from the kit.

I created this card by adding only cardstock in Crumb Cake and Merry Merlot. I stamped the berry sprig image onto watercolor paper and colored in each berry using the same technique I used on the bag. There are so many elements in this kit I was able to layer and cluster a bunch of leftover bits to finish off the card.

Global Design Project - CASE Challenge - GDP204 - Sailing Home

I love a super clean and simple sketch. This week we get to CASE this card by the talented Kerstin Kreis.

What struck me first about her card is the layout, overall symmetry and strong focal point. I tried to incorporate those three elements into my CASE version.

My project uses the Sailing Away Suite of products and the stitched rectangle dies. I love how clean and simple this card is. A good sketch is always a great place to start. A full list of supplies can be found below.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary with a sunset harbor sailing cruise. While the weather was kind of foggy and overcast it was still a beautiful evening. The next day we even had an opportunity to visit a couple of lighthouses in Maine. Perfect card for this occasion!

Monday Montage 146 - Beautiful Friendship

The Montage Montage crew is back today to share what we are working on.

This week I was playing around with the Beautiful Friendship stamp set … just for fun. No reason other than to craft. I did need to create a wedding card but ended up with a birthday card. Lol. Here is the card I came up with. It’s sweet and simple with a few nice layers all clustered in the center of the card.

I’m digging these colors together: Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Sahara Sand Bermuda Bay & Basic Black. The black really makes everything POP.
