Flowering Desert - Global Design Project Color Challenge - GDP177

I was so excited to see this weeks Global Design Project color challenge. These colors look amazing together. I knew immediately that I wanted to use the Flowering Desert stamp set with these colors.

Flowering Desert is a great builder stamp set. I like a set with lots of images that I can build upon and customize. This set is so easy to use and everything you stamp looks fantastic and deliberate. I created the background scene by building various cactus, flowers and leaf images. To balance it I started by stamping with the larger images and the darkest color first. Then I filled in the open spaces with the smaller images. I like this effect.

Lasting Lily - Monday Montage & WWYS

Lasting Lily - Charlet Mallett, Stampin’ Up!

Hi friends. Doing a little double duty today with my post. I am feeding two birds with one seed (if you will).

The Montage Montage crew is hopping and showcasing the fun new projects they are working on. The Monday Montage crew is a talented bunch. A quick refresher, the Montage gals host a blog hop every other Monday showing you fun and exciting Stampin’ Up! products. This is sure to be an inspiring show and tell of products.

I happened to be working on a card featuring the Lasting Lily stamp set for the WWYS crew. It’s seems like a natural fit to create another card for the this hop.

Do you like this coloring effect on these cards? I’ve taken the Lasting Lily stamp set and stamped the large Lily image in Grapefruit Grove onto watercolor paper. I’ve then gone in and softened the look of the flower with an Aqua painter to give the image a little more painterly feel. Then i’ve gone in onto of the image and added a little more detail and shading with Stampin’ Write markers.

Butterfly Gala - Stamp Review Crew

Hello! We are showcasing the Butterfly Gala stamp set for this edition of the Stamp Review. Get excited people, there are over 19 of us participating. This will be a giant BUTTERFLY filled hop. Loads of inspiration ahead.

A couple of weeks ago I started to color a background with the various butterflies from the stamp set and then set aside not sure how I wanted to use it. Do you ever do that? Start something and then becomes stumped? I guess I just needed a couple of weeks for my brain to soak because the card came together so quickly when I pulled it out and used it to create this bright card for our hop today.

All coloring had been created with Stampin’ Blends. It was fun to play around and try different color combos and layers of colors. Each butterfly is unique.

The Blends Colors used are Lovely Lipstick, Flirty Flamingo and Pineapple Punch. I’m loving how Pineapple Punch and Flirty Flamingo created a coral color when blended together.

I added a few embellishments from the Occasions catalog and am super pleased with the results. It’s a bright and butterfly filled card. A full list of card supplies can be found below.

Double Layout - Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop - February

Welcome back to another Scrapbook Sunday blog hop. This event features a team of Stampin' Up! scrapbookers that blog hop the 3rd Sunday of every month and share exclusively scrapbooking ideas using Stampin' Up! products. Please note that we will be shirting to the second Sunday of the Month starting in March.

I did not post or scrapbook last month and you all may be wondering how my book for my Grandma was received. Well, after compiling, I decided it still needed pages. Lol. It’s not done. So I’m continuing to create pages for that book in hopes that I can have it full and ready by June.

The theme for this month is double layout. I usually only create single pages so this was a fun challenge. I used a piece of paper to tie the two pages together. I first created the right side page and then added the left. Not sure if that’s the best way to create a double layout but it’s where I started. I wanted to showcase the photos in a filmstrip so I created one from paper.

Purple is my Grandma’s favorite color and she often wears purple so this light purple sheet from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Papers was a great base layer. I have cut out and colored the a few butterflies from the paper using Stampin’ Blends to match the colors in the photos.

Notice the super thick and shiny die cut word? This has created by die cutting and layering four sheets of black card stock. Then I dipped in Versamark and heat embossed the top layer with black emboss powder for the shine. A little time consuming but makes for a nice statement embellishment.
