Farewell Card for a friend

August 10, 2018
Farewell card (2 of 2).jpg
ABSCHIED-01.png

Ben needed a farewell card for a friend who will be spending his junior year in Germany as a foreign exchange student. I pulled out some retired supplies (i love this map embossing folder) to quickly create this ABSCHIED card. Ben says Abschied is the german word for farewell. I needed a pretty specific verse for this card so I typeset the word, printed it, and then used Crumb Cake Blends to color.  The phrase is above. Feel free to download and print if you ever need this specific phrase. :)

Twinkle Twinkle - Global Design Project - Sketch Challenge

August 6, 2018

It was written in the stars ... time for another sketch challenge. Lol. Every week, same time and place.

I used the stamp set Little Twinkle for my interpretation of this weeks Global Design project. I started playing around with the patterned paper and started with three strips (like the sketch), and that morphed into a bunch of tiny strips. I think it makes for an interesting background. I ran a little row of stitching across the strips for a little added detail.

The heart is stamped in versa mark and then heat set with white emboss powder. I then watercolored inside the heart with Night of Navy ink.

Are you ready to play? Interpret this sketch and post your project on the Global Design Project blog. Tag you photo #gdp150.

Rooted in Nature - Stamp Review Crew

This edition of Stamp review snuck up super fast. I guess that happens when we throw in a bonus round last month.

This week is the Rooted in Nature edition of Stamp Review Crew. I personally LOVE this stamp set but I'll be honest, it's not my usual go to stamp set style (I gravitate toward more graphic and cutesy). That said I have loved everything created with the realistic nature imagery. Plus, it is a really easy to use stamp set and the large sentiments are perfect for card fronts.

My 'Thinking of You' card features a miss-mash of elements. It's kind of a kitchen sink card. I've paired the stamp imagery with the Wooden Textures designer series papers. A natural fit. I added some gold & white embossing powders and some ink spatters to the top of the tree image (stamped in Gray Granite). I like the textured look of the spatters/embossing with the various wood grains. A bit of a mess? Or a bit of success? Not totally sure but either way it was fun to play.

Next up on this hop is Debra Burgin. I'm so excited to see what she has made using this set.

What is this HOP all about? The Stamp Review Crew is a group of International Stampin' Up! demonstrators who want to show you how much you can do with ONE stamp set. Each edition the SR Crew will showcase a new featured stamp set. Each stop along the hop will show you a different idea, or ideas using that set!

Little Elephant - TGIFC171 - Color Challenge

August 3, 2018

YAY for Friday! We've got a color challenge going on for TGIF Challenges, a little So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Pacific Point. I decided to use these colors to create a child birthday card with the Little Elephant bundle of products. I paired these products with the Balloon Bouquet punch and am super please with the results. This is a fairly simple card and would be easy for you to recreate using any colors.

I created my own patterned paper in the challenge colors using the long border stamp from this set. I needed patterned pieces large enough to punch out a balloon using  the Ballon Bouquet punch. I stamped the board image 3 times and allowed it to overlap a little. Notice the card base?  I used the same stamp image  to create a pattern for the card base in Gray Granite to add a little visual texture.

The background is a simple watercolor block using a lightened version of Pacific Point and applied with an aqua painter. I was hoping to evoke the look of a little bit of sky.

The design team over at TGIF Challenges has loads of inspiration for you using these color. We would love it if you visit and PLAY ALONG with us. Ready? Happy stamping! #TGIFC171

I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge.
