Global Design Project - CASE Challenge - GDP208

Pink and green are a favorite color combo for Christmas. I love it. It makes everything look so cute, fresh and HAPPY!

This week we are casing Krista Frattin. She is a personal favorite of mine. I love her style and was super excited to case this card of hers.

I was inspired by her card layout and the sweet pop of pink. Those are the two elements I chose to incorporate into my project.

This card features the Perfectly Plaid bundle: Perfectly Plaid stamp set and tree punch. The colors on this card are Blueing Bride, Shaded Spruce and Mint Macaron. A full list of supplies can be found below.

Global Design Project - Color Challenge - GDP207 Harvest Hellos

This time of year the THEME bloom and grow brings up images of fall harvests, pumpkins and picking apples. My card for the Global Design Project challenge uses the pumpkin image from Harvest Hellos.

I wanted to have pumpkins on my card of varying sizes so I trimmed off the edges of one pumpkin to make it smaller. The pumpkin image has been stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink and then colored using Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. I like how the stamped orange lines blend with the marker colors. It’s a softer look than the black outline.

Like that black THANKS sentiment? Just like the smaller pumpkin it also had a little crafting surgery. I trimmed the ‘giving’ away from the ‘Thanksgiving’ die from the Well Written dies using scissors

Its a little hard to see in this photos but the buffalo check background is embossed using clear emboss powder and creates a nice subtle check for the background. .

Hey there, pumpkin! We have a super fun sketch challenge for you over at the TGIFchallenges blog. I decided to use the Harvest Hellos bundle (stamp and punch) to create a Halloween card using the sketch. The pumpkin has been colored using Stampin’ Blends. Creating Kindness Blog Hop - Ink Refills

Boo To You Creepy Eyeball card - Charlet Mallett, Stampin’ Up!

GETTING INKY WITH IT. This month we are playing with ink refills. Pure solid ink. Refills are awesome and can be used for way more than reinking your dry ink pads. I use them all the time to watercolor with. They can be used to dye ribbon and paper. They can be mixed with embossing paste to easily add color. They can be added into a mister with drops of water or alcohol for spritzing on projects. Seriously, they are the best.

I’ve used them to create a fun and somewhat creepy background on this monster Halloween Card. It’s like this card is growing eyeballs and soon it will become monster …

Boo To You Creepy Eyeball card - Charlet Mallett, Stampin’ Up!

Do you like this look and want to try it? Here’s how I created the background. You’ll need Pool Party and Pretty Peacock ink refills.

1. Create a water wash on a piece of watercolor paper using an aqua painter. Cover the entire sheet in water.

2. Add a couple small drops of Pool Party ink refill onto the wet watercolor paper. Tip the paper back and forth so the ink moves and swirls and covers the entire sheet. I was gong for full ink coverage with some areas darker than others. Use an aqua painter to help the process along if needed. Here is a super quick video showing what I mean.

3. With an aqua painter pick up full strength Pretty Peacock ink. Randomly touch the background with the tip of the brush and watch the ink bleed. The water the paper is the more the ink will bleed.

4. Once dry add google eyes to the center of the ink drops.

The Raven Halloween card - Charlet Mallett, Stampin’ Up!

I created a second background for this Raven card following step 1 & 2 from above. I only used Pretty Peacock for the background. The Pretty Peacock background has the look of an eerie night sky. Peacock is my HERO color on this card. It is the color I decided to build the entire look around.
