P.S. You're the Best - Global Design Project - Color Challenge

Hooray for color challenges and really cool typewriters. I love typewriter stamps and collect them whenever I can find them. I was so excited to see a typewriter in this new Stampin' Up! set 'P.S. You're the Best'. I had to use it immediately for this weeks Global Design Project.

The colors we are challenging you to use in your project this week are Lovely Lipstick, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy. I got a little inky with my card background using these colors in classic ink reinkers to watercolor with.  While I know that the typewriter ink would not bleed this way I still like the inky look paired with this image. I added a few little layered details behind the typewriter to create that messy desk look.

Are you ready to play along with us? Check out more inspiration in these colors on the Global Design Project and play along. Tag your projects #GDP149.  Happy Stamping!

A BIG Thank You! - Global Design Project - CASE Connie Collins

This week the Global Design Project is casing longtime Artisan and super talented Connie Collins! I love Connie's style. I find her projects super detailed, full of depth and texture, and always RICH in color. Her layouts are also so well designed.

Here is my attempt to mimic her style. I opted to use the same papers (Share What You Love) and colors that Connie used on her card. I hand cut the large purple flowers and leaves directly from a sheet of the papers.  The only item that is stamped on this card is the sentiment. This large greeting is from the A BIG THANK YOU stamp set.

Are you ready to see what the team has create inspired by Connie? Visit the Global Design Project blog and play along! #GDP148

Do you see this texture on the Crumb Cake cardstock (to the right)? The texture is created with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions folder. This is a genius product! How smart is it to be able to turn any smooth card stock into a textured card stock?! This folder has to be my most favorite tool right now.

Alright, ready to play along? Visit the Global Design Project blog to see more inspiration, get details and to submit your project. Thanks for visiting.

Broadway Birthday - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

HOORAY! Hello again friends. Welcome to another Stampin' Up! Artisan blog hop. Lights, camera ... cardmaking. Are you ready? This round we are featuring the Broadway Birthday suite of products.

We had a big birthday in our household recently. My middle child turned 16 and is now in the process of getting his driver's license. This suite was the perfect choice for creating him a custom card. The coordinating papers have a strong color palette however I decided to take this suite a little masculine and swapped out the color Lovely Lipstick for Night of Navy & Tranquil Tide. I think this swap out looks fantastic and totally changes the look of this suite / papers.

I created this custom 16th birthday card by hand cutting a one and a six from the Gold Embossed number sheet from the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Papers. You could easily create a custom card to celebrate any year, just swap out the numbers. Since the papers feature metallic gold I opted to use the metallic gold pearls to adorn the Lemon Lime Twist frame.

I tried to match the balloon decor to Ben's card. It worked out pretty close.

Both of my cards feature the Broadway Birthday Stamp set, Broadway Lights Framelits, Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Papers & Metallic Pearls. A full list of supplies can be found below

This hooray balloon card (below) uses the same colors and would be good for any recipient. A good generic birthday card is a nice thing to have at the ready for birthday emergencies. Since I am a mom of 3 boys it seems there is always a birthday emergency (party, gift or card needed at the last minute).

Do you like this harlequin diecut background? I created this using the diamond border die and multiple passes through my Big Shot.  Getting the spacing even was easy to achieve by lining up the edge of the die with the pattern openings.  I was able to smooth out any unwanted die lines by passing the paper through the Big Shot once again when finished using the thin silicone rubber mat from the Big Shot Embossing Mats.

Thanks for stopping and please know I appreciate YOU and all of your lovely comments. Our next STAR is fellow artisan, Connie Collins. Have a great day!

Blended Seasons - Global Design Project - Inspiration Challenge Farm Life

Going a little country this week over at Global Design Project. The Theme is Farm Life. I went Country chic!

How would you interpret country / farm life? I instantly wanted to use the Wood Textures Designers Series Papers and the Blended Seasons Stamp set (avail to purchase Aug 1).

I love the look of images stamped and colored on this faux wood paper. After heat embossing the flower image in white I colored with Stampin' Blends. What do you think? Ready to give this theme a try? Hop over to the Global Design Project blog to see even more farm and country inspiration and for details on how to participate. #GPP147
