Festival of Trees Card

Festival of Trees Card

Festival of Trees - Merry Little Wish

October 9, 2014

Here is another swap I created for the upcoming Fall Stampin' Event in St. George. This card features the Festival of Trees stamp set and coordinating punch.

A couple of fun things to note:

1. The tiny snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins embellishments are tied onto each end of the white bakers twine. I like to add fun little details to my cards.

2. I used the new embossing folder from the Fun Frames pack to frame the tree. It's the perfect size for the tree.

3. The gray ornaments have been embossed with the Smoky Slate embossing powder.

Fall Fest - Hello Fall

October 7, 2014

I had a few pumpkins leftover from the Fall Fest - Grateful for You swaps that I made and posted about the other day. I created another card featuring this emboss & color technique for my card a week challenge with Paula. I am about 2 weeks behind on this challenge but am catching up.

I really like the way this card turn out.  It's clean and simple, just my style. We may even make this card at my next card club.

A few fun things to note...

1. I stamped the THANKS image from Seasonally Scattered as the background image for this card. I stamped the image in Mossy Meadow.

2. I stamped the hardwood in crumb cake on crumb cake card stock and then cut one plank to create the wood banner that covers up the THANKS phrase in the Seasonally Scattered image. I love how covering up the phrase gives this stamp set so many more uses.

3. I stamped the 'Hello Fall' in vellum and then overlaid the phrase onto the pumpkin and the plank banner.

Fall Fest, For All Things - Grateful for You Card

Fall Fest, For All Things - Grateful for You Card

Fall Fest - Grateful for You

October 5, 2014

Next weekend I am headed to St. George to attend Jill Olsen's Fall Stampin' get together.  It should be a fun time filled with lots of ideas and techniques. I've talked my mom into attending as well and I am excited for a girls weekend.

I've been getting some SWAPS together for the event. Below is one of my swaps. This card is perfect for fall and features a fun and simple technique on the pumpkins. I'm going to call it emboss & color - if you are aware of an official or better name please let me know. Here's how I did it.

image.jpg

1. Stamp your image in versa mark. I stamped the tall pumpkin from Fall Fest.

Pumpkin is heat embossed with whisper white embossing powder - it's hard to see.

2. Cover image in white embossing powder and heat emboss. I added a few tiny flecks of gold embossing powered to the white for a little bit of shimmer.

3. Color in the embossed areas using Blendabilities markers. I used shades of Pumpkin Pie for the Pumpkin image and Old Olive for the stem. The most fabulous part ... the marker does not wipe off. It's permanent. It kind of gives a watercolor look to the embossing and it visually adds more dimension than a flat color embossing powder. It is a bit time consuming for a swap card but I like the overall look.

Something for Baby Cards & Tags

September 19, 2014

The last of the projects we made this month for club is a set of matching baby cards and gift tags.  Each card was slightly customized for gender however either design works well for any new baby.

These cards and tags are fairly self explanatory however the onesie was first cut out with the onesie framelit and then the paper was embossed with the large polka dot pattern.

I've seen similar card ideas floating around and I love being inspired by others and putting my own little twist into the project. This version is a 4x4 card and features the Something to Say stamp set and Lullaby designer paper. I used the leftover card stock and positive onesie shape to create the tag. No waste!

Card making tip of the day: I gather all my card pieces together and arrange a rough layout before I tack anything down. Simple idea but saves a lot of frustration. Speaking of frustration, I can’t seem to get a clean heat foil transfer with this clear iridescent foil film & the buffalo check plate! The foil is a couple years old… does foil film expire? Or is it just user error? The foiled piece isn’t perfect but I used it anyway. Part of the handmade charm. This card uses the Winter Adventures bundle. #stampinup #heatfoil #winteradventure #cardmaking

I used the Buffalo Check Hot Foil Die along with the Winter Adventure Bundle. I just LOVE the snowshoe dies in this bundle. So cute! I'm hoping to play along as much as I can and maybe even make a project each day. Fingers crossed! Paper trickery! I used 1/4 inch strips of cardstock to create stripes. I cut these into 1/4 inch strips and offset for a checked pattern. I like how this looks like primitive Halloween decor. #heroarts #halloweencard #cardmakingreels #papercrafting
Happy Halloween! I treated myself to Heroween 13 days of Crafty Treats. I'm a sucker for a good advent calendar, Halloween and super cute dies!
