A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Alternates for Be Mine Valentine

Valentine’s day is such a fun holiday for paper crafters. We love to make handmade Valentines. The January Paper Pumpkin kit is darling for creating special  little treats. The kit, as sold, includes supplies to make & decorate 24 treat boxes. This kit coordinates with the Animal Expedition suite from the Stampin’ Up! annual catalog. Once I made the treats I needed I’ve used my extra supplies to make a few more alternate projects.

The stamp set from the kit is adorable and I used it exclusively to create this fun chameleon card.

The repeating heart background was created using the Stamparatus. The chameleon is colored using Stampin’ Blends. I tried to color the chameleon to blend a bit with the hearts behind it. I think this card turned out pretty FLY.

This second card is for my Grandma LaRue. When we were little (and even as adults) she would send us a dollar every year in our handmade valentine. I posted a little bit about this back in 2009, you can read that here. I thought I’d send her a Valentine this year with a dollar. Just for fun. She will get a kick out of this now that she’s no longer able to send out cards as easily.  Tip: I snipped the kangaroo pouch with a hobby blade so the dollar bill could easily side in and out. I have a little video showing this closer on my instagram.

This last project is a slight adaptation on the pillow box. I’ve snipped off the top to create more of a little open container to fill with candy. You could cute the box in half to create two pouches or just cut off the top to create the pouch. The little bird image comes from the stamp set included in the kit.

Blending Brush fail … but I made this card work in the end. The paper on the Specialty Embossed Cards has a little tooth and I could not get a smooth blend. Enter operation cover it all up. Haha. This card is all paper. The scrapbook kit is called Keeping Traditions SWK. Card created for #gdp526 #stampinup #cardmakingreels

This blue and purple winter card uses tidbits from the Calm & Bright kit. I used the negative shape from the fir die cut to create a stencil and layered from there. Blend, stencil, stamp. Colors are Highlander Heather, Cloud Cover, & Lost Lagoon. @global_design_project #gdp525 #stampinup #calmandbright
Masking and stamping! On this card I mask with tape, blend ink, then stamp, then stencil, and stamp again to create a layered scene. It’s so satisfying to remove the masking tape… always a fun reveal.
