Global Design Project COLOR Challenge - GDP181

March 18, 2019
GDP181.jpg

Hello and welcome to another Global Design Project challenge. This week we’ve got three fantastic colors for your to use on your project: Grapefruit Grove, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight.

GDP181 (8 of 8).jpg

I’ve taken a really simple approach and stamped a single flower in each of the colors. Arranged on white, these three colors really pop.

The flower is from the stamp set called Painted Seasons. A list of supplies can be found below.

Ready to see more cards using these colors? Check out the Global Design Project blog. Play along with us! Tag your projects #gdp180 so we can be sure to find them on Pinterest and Instagram.

Geared Up Garage - Stamp Review Crew

March 17, 2019
Stamp Review Crew blog banner(2).png
CMallett (21 of 36).jpg

Hello and WELCOME to the Geared Up Garage edition of Stamp Review Crew. Our timing couldn’t be more perfect as the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design team just released a round of projects using Geared Up Garage. If you like this bundle you should check those projects on Stampin’ Up!’s facebook page here.

I took a super simple approach with my card today. The screwdriver and clamp wrench tools have been hand cut from a sheet of the Classic Garage designer series papers. I like how they act as brackets to the sentiment inside the emblem.

What is the Stamp Review Crew? We are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together to do a blog hop on the first and third Monday of each month. For each hop we chose a single stamp set to feature. We have a blog with all of the hops archived. You can hop through any hop, any time. Click here to see all of the hops!

Below are a few additional cards I’ve made with this set. Thanks in advance for taking the time to comment. I love to hear from you!

One For All - TGIF Challenges Out of this World Challenge - TGIFC203

March 15, 2019
TGIFC203.jpg

Making a galaxy background doesn't have to be super complicated. There are so many way to approach this task. Here’s how I did it. To recreate these two cards all you need is watercolor paper, and aqua painter and a couple of ink refills.

I made two backgrounds when I was playing around and so I ended up making two cards. Which one do you like better? I can’t decide.

I used Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay ink refills to create the space look. First I wet the watercolor paper entirely. Then I set to quick work. I applied ink with an aqua painter, starting with the lightest color and ending with the darkest color. I placed the color randomly and let each color bleed into the other. The effect is totally unique and different each time you try it.

After the watercolor background dried I splattered a little white paint (all I had on hand was a tube of white acrylic craft paint) to add in some stars. I used the aqua painter. The splatter technique is basically dip in paint and flick across your paper (and your entire desk if you are not careful). The larger paper stars were punched using the Little Twinkle punch. I added a few rhinestone gems for extra twinkle.

On one card the Happy Birthday was stamped and embossed before the paint was laid down. Once the other I stamped and embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment after. Can you tell which is which? The vertical card the embossing was done after the paint and I think the white is a little it brighter. The horizontal card the embossing was put down first and then I painted over it. While I was able to wipe the ink off of the sentiment I think it appears a little more dull. Note: I find embossing on watercolor paper a little hard to get solid and even coverage because of the paper texture. Do you have any tips? I’d love to know. Sometimes I stamp and emboss twice but I didn't do that here letting the speckle of the background appear through the letters to add to that galaxy effect.

See a full list of supplies below.
