Geared Up Garage - Global Design Project Sketch Challenge - GDP174

The Global Design Project has a fun sketch challenge for you this week.

I’m currently in Valentine card making mode so i knew I wanted to try and make a Valentine’s day card using this sketch. For my card I decided to use the Geared Up Garage product bundle, Classic Garage papers and embellishments. I paired with the Be Mine framelits for a bit of a masculine Valentine card. The gears kind of take on the oval shape and the rest of the card loosely puts the various elements where the sketch dictates. A full list of card supplies can be found at the end of this post.

Check out the Global Design Project blog to see what the other designers have created using this sketch as inspiration. Play along with us! Tag your projects #gdp174 so we can be sure to find them on Pinterest and Instagram.

Sale-A-bration is here! - Stamp Review Crew edition - Home to Roost

Welcome to the SALE-A-BRATION edition of the Stamp Review Crew. This round we are featuring many of the fun products that are available for FREE during this years Sale-a-bration promotion through Stampin’ Up!

Today I’m featuring the Home To Roost stamp set. I haven’t had a chance to stamp around with the Home To Roost stamp set so I thought I’d give it a whirl on these cards and I am loving the results.

These cards are fairly simple to produce, if you like the design you could recreate easily. All you need is a couple of classic inks, an aqua painter and watercolor paper.

To create the background start with a water only wash on the watercolor paper. Pick to colors that might blend well together. Drop in one of those colors on the top of the water wash and blend downward. Drop in the other color on the bottom and blend upward to meet the first color you laid down.

Once the watercolor background is dry you can simply stamp directly onto the color with black ink. I really wanted the black image to pop so I heat set the image with black embossing powder.

For the ‘reed’ card I chose Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake. These colors look nice together and have a real landscape feel of earth blending into sky.

I took the same card design and flipped the colors and image to create this Rooster card. I used Soft Seafoam and Gorgeous Grapefruit for the watercolor.

Both cards also feature the Wood Textures Designer series papers. For a full list of supplies see the end of this post. If you purchase all the supplies to create these cards you can Earn the Home to Roost stamp set for FREE! Any $50.00 purchase during Sale-a-gration earns a reward.'

What is the Stamp Review Crew? We are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together to do a blog hop on the first and third Monday of each month. For each hop we chose a single stamp set to feature. We have a blog with all of the hops archived. You can hop through any hop at any time. Click here to see all of the hops! Go to the specific post for this hop here. Up next is the super talented Lou! Thanks for visiting.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to comment. I love to hear from you!

Fancy Friday Blog Hop - Sale-A-bration

Hello friends! Friday is my favorite .. the beginning of the weekend. Do you have fun weekend plans? Our weather has been bitterly cold, single digits with wind chills of well below zero. I’ve been hunkering down indoors and making. Hopefully it warms up a bit.

For this FANCY FRIDAY blog hop the team is picking our MOST favorite Saleabration products to showcase.

Who are we? The Fancy Friday team is a group of talented Stampin' Up! Artisan's, both past and present.

There is so much to LOVE in this years Sale-A-bration promotion. Stamps, papers, ribbons … ooh la la! For me I’ve fallen for the ‘Lovely Lattice’ and the ‘Part of My Story’ stamp sets and the black and white side of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series papers. These three products rank right up there among my faves. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that you can earn any of these products for FREE with any 50$ purchase from now until the end of March. Love me some FREE.

Speaking of LOVE … I love a good black and white stripe or a simple black and white polka dot. These patterns are so universal they can be used on just about any project. These basic patterns and more can be found on the backside of the Botanical Butterflies Designer Series papers.

The Lovely Lattice stamp set has a beautifully composed image of flowers on a lattice oval. I decided to cut up this perfect composition to create my own. The image is easy to deconstruct with scissors. The flowers have been colored with Stampin’ Blends.

This card also features some fun new products from the Occasions mini catalog (stitched rectangle dies and new word dies). A full list of card supplies can be found below.

Are you ready for more FANCY Saleabration inspiration? If you are traveling this hop in order you just arrived from Elizebeth’s blog. Next up is Sue. Thanks for stopping by! Charlet
