Hi folks! It’s time to hop and see a bunch of alternate ideas using the October Paper Pumpkin kit.

When my October Paper Pumpkin kit arrived I was super excited. I usually am so excited to see the red box in my mail but this kit had me at FEATHER! I have such a love with feathers right now.

IMG_3084.JPG

This kit is called Friends of a Feather and includes all the goodies to create 8 cards. Below you can see the 9 piece stamp set and the suggested cards. I did make a few cards following the instructions but I ended up cutting down the supplies to make napkin rings and name place cards for our Thanksgiving dinner next month! Plus I had a enough supplies to make a few card alternates. You can see those below.

Falling for Leaves - Global Design Project COLOR Challenge - GDP161

October 22, 2018
GDP161.jpg

Around here Autumn is in FULL swing and the world is full of reds, oranges, yellows and greens. The timing for this Global Design Project color challenge could not be better! This week we are challenging you to use Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive in your crafting.

I made two cards for this challenge playing around with the Falling for Leaves bundle of products. I’ve also used the spotted background stamp from Artisan Textures stamp set to create these fun color backgrounds. Kind of looks like Brusho but it’s not.

Falling for Leaves (2 of 5).jpg

How I got this look on the background:

  1. Wet the watercolor paper with an aqua painter.

  2. Stamp the spotted background image in Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry ink randomly onto the wet watercolor paper. The wetter the paper the more the ink will bleed. The dryer the paper the more the image crispness will be retained.

  3. THAT’S IT! Super easy without the mess.

Falling for Leaves (4 of 5).jpg
Falling for Leaves (5 of 5).jpg

This second card uses the same background technique but I only stamped the image in Crushed Curry. The Frosted epoxy embellishments have been hand colored using a Pumpkin Pie Blends marker. I cut Whisper White card stock and Pumpkin Pie card stock using this three leaf die. I layered these together for a DUPLEX look.

More details about this challenge are on the Global Design Project blog. Check it out and play along! See ya soon, Charlet

Trick or Tweet ... for the Veterinarian

October 19, 2018

We recently found a new vet and I gave her this card I made a few weeks ago from the Trick or Tweet stamp set. I thought is was a cute and appropriate card to give to a veterinarian and would be appreciated. She like it so much she ordered 10 more cards for employee appreciation day. I cased my earlier card to come up with this version. Yippee! Another WIN for handmade cards.

Country Home - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

October 18, 2018
Artisan Logo.jpg

The Artisan Design Team is back again to share projects using the Country Home Stamp set. This is a beautiful stamp set perfect for fall. I’m sharing two projects today

My first card uses Stampin’ Blends to color the stamped images from Country Home. This card also features the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions folder and Champagne Shimmer paint.

Country Home Card (4 of 13).jpg
Country Home Card (6 of 13).jpg

I’m really digging Shimmer paint. I find you can make a little go a long way when you dilute with rubbing alcohol. I added the diluted Champagne Shimmer paint directly to the embossed Pool Party card stock with a sponge dauber in a circular motion. The paper soaks up the paint quickly but also dries quickly.

I paired the pitcher image with the cattails flower arrangement image. After stamping and coloring I hand cut out using a hobby blade. I wanted to get a super close trim on this image and a hobby blade allowed me to get into the nooks and crannies of the leaves. I outlined the cut out image with a black Stampin’ Blend to finish off the look.

This next card features the cattails image colored with Stampin’ Blends. I stamped two the images back to back to create a floral swag and trimmed out. The greeting has been stamped in black ink and die cut using an oval from the Stitched Shape framelit dies. The outside edge of the oval and the perimeter of the card has been painted with Champagne Shimmer paint using a sponge dauber.

Have you had a chance to play with, or check out, the Take Your Pick tool? This multipurpose pickup and precision tool simplifies meticulous tasks. There is a tacky putty end to easily pick up sequins, paper accents, and other small objects; twist to dispense more putty. The other end has 2 changeable, double-ended tips with paper piercer, mini spatula, small stylus, and large stylus. I find the putty end indispensable and have been using it non stop to place small embellishments. It’s so easy to use! Refiles are available for the putty end. The tool retails for $10.00 USD. The two-pack refill retails for $3.50 USD. A list of additional project supplies can be found at the end of this post.

Are you ready to see what the Artisan Design Team has in store using Country home? Up next is the talented Connie Collins. Thanks so much for visiting and sharing your comments with me.

When I think of pastel I think watercolor. For this month our 'Use Your Stash' theme is PRETTY PASTEL. I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge. UYS is a monthly instagram hop where my friends and I get crafty and use what we have on hand to create a project around a certain theme. Use those supplies!
