A Little Merry Card - Sketch Challenge #GDP114

November 20, 2017
23000291_10156851140932222_2302771335223655475_o.jpg

HELLO & welcome to another Global Design Project challenge. This week we have an awesome sketch for you to follow.  I just love sketch challenges because sometimes coming up with the layout of a card is the hardest part.

My card uses this sketch pretty literally. Look at these darling little holly berry and leaves! I liked them so much I created 6 to repeat in the grid. The paper holly leaves are cut from the Christmas Quilt Thinlets, and the red holly berry is created by me! Ha, kidding but turning Perfect Accents into shiny red berries is super easy to do with Stampin' Blends. I started with a white Perfect Accent left on the sheet. Do not remove from the sheet, it's so much easier to color first and then remove. Simply color the accent with the dark Cherry Cobbler Blend marker. Alcohol ink dries quickly and creates NO transfer mess.

Disclaimer: Using you Blends to color anything beyond paper may shorten the life of the marker. Be sure to take care, there is no need to push hard on the tip. Color the Perfect Accents lightly. Repeat coats as needed for the desired saturation.

Super shiny red berries created with a Cherry Stampin' Blend marker and white Perfect Accents.

The Global Design Project has a new challenge every week that you can play along with. Every week is a different type of challenge; It could be Colour, Theme, CASE or Sketch inspiration. The designers on the GDP team are active Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, super duper talented, and are from all around the globe!

Check out the Global Design Project blog to see all the various projects the designers have created and PLAY along with us. Be sure to tag your project with our challenge hashtag #gdp114. Happy Stamping! I can't wait to see what you create.

Painted Harvest - Stamp Review Crew

Painted Harvest (2 of 9).jpg

Hello there! Welcome to another round of the Stamp Review Crew hop featuring Painted Harvest. By now you MUST have seen projects made with the Painted Harvest stamp set. It seems my Pinterest and Instagram feeds are full of awesome projects using this set.  This hop is full of MORE inspiration we cannot wait to share.

I got a little inky and technique'y with the two cards I'm sharing. The background on my first card turned out super cool and I'm not sure if I could replicate it. First I stamped a few of the flowers in Fresh Fig and Berry Burst ink onto watercolor paper. Then I spritzed the paper, so much so that the ink spread and bled together and the flowers almost disappeared. I let the paper dry and repeated the process once more. Once dry again I stamped a few flowers directly over where I had previously stamped the flowers.  As I look at the card I think this watercolor look kind of gives the background paper a soft focus feel. Flower bokeh? Not sure what to call it but I like it.

On this second card I stamped the flower in Berry Burst onto the watercolor paper and then spritz once from about 10 inches above. We made this card at this month's card club and no two cards were exactly alike and all were gorgeous! This card uses a few more supplies than the first version. These are listed below.

Thank you for stopping by. Next up is Mike Funke!

Grateful Theme Challenge #TGIFC134

November 17, 2017

Hey guys! It's a theme challenge over at the TGIF Challenges blog. This week theme is "Grateful" and is appropriately timed for those of us in the USA with Thanksgiving last approaching.

Let me tell you, I am sure grateful for you and this amazing stamping community. Thank you for your comments, love and support. Its been a wild couple of weeks and I count myself very lucky to be a part of this awesome Stampin' Up! and paper crafting community. I'm also grateful for the TGIF Challenges crew. I got to meet many of these ladies face to face in SLC last week and it was such a treat! They are such talented and genuinely nice people.

I'm sharing two cards today. My first card uses Pick a Pumpkin and the Painted Harvest stamp sets. I just realized the little acorn is no longer available for purchase (I hate it when I do that). Yikes. But you could easily swap out the for a little wooden leaf from the Touches of Nature embellishments if you wanted to recreate this card.

Play along with us and share your Grateful creations on the TGIF Challenges blog.I can't wait to see what you all create. Happy stamping!

In the City - Case the Designer #GDP112

November 6, 2017
Charlet Designer Badge.jpg

Boy, do I have exciting news. I've been asked to become a design team member with the Global Design Project! You guys, this is awesome! I've been a long time fan and player of the GDP weekly challenges. The designers on the GDP team are active Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, super duper talented, and are from all around the globe!

The Global Design Project has a new challenge every week that you can play along with. Every week is a different type of challenge; It could be Colour, Theme, CASE or Sketch inspiration.

This weeks challenge is to CASE the beautiful card that Connie Collins created. There are so many fun ways to interpret Connie's card.

I ended up making two cards for my first post with the GDP team. My first card ended up looking so much like Allison's card that I scrapped it and started over. HA - that's what can happen when you CASE! That card, using Christmas Sweaters, at the end of this post.

For the card I did end up submitting I decided to use the IN THE CITY host set. We have a lot of new neighbors moving into our area and this is perfect card to have on hand. The supply list of products are listed below.
