Stamping Society - Favorite Preorder - Penguin Party

August 1, 2021

Hello, hello! Welcome to another Stamping Society Monthy tutorial. This month we are sharing our favorite preorder item from the upcoming Holiday catalog (July - December 2021 catalog). What is PREORDER? Stampin’ Up! demonstrators can order product one month early, aka preorder. We are all sharing a variety of new product that are sure to end up on your wish list.

What is Stamping Society? We are group of international stampers who showcase an idea monthly through a blog hop and then offer more exclusive ideas through a tutorial. The tutorial showcases 6 exclusive ideas along with instructions and a video. Details on how to get the tutorial at the end of this post.

There are so many super cute products in the new mini catalog (as per usual). I am a sucker for a stamp set with a coordinating punch. The first time on my preorder list was Penguin Party. The penguin is adorable! The set also includes 6 greetings, balloon images and dress up items for the penguin. Note: I have used the penguin on my exclusive tutorial card.

The stamp set also has a coordinating Designer Series paper (Penguin Playmates) that is available in the upcoming SALE-A-BRATION promotion. You can earn this paper free with any qualifying Stampin’ Up! purchase (50$ in the US).

Penguin Party - ‘Happy Birthday Polar Bear’ CARD:

There are loads of cute critters in the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper. I’ve used the darling Polar Bear from the paper as the primary image and built the card around this. A full list of supplies can be found at the end of this post.

Ready to recreate this card? Let’s go!

‘Happy Birthday Polar Bear’ card

  1. Cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to 5.5” x 8.5”. Score and fold in half to create card base.

  2. Grab the snowflake stencil mask from the ADORNING DESIGNS DECORATIVE MASKS and a sheet of Balmy Blue cardstock. Lay the snowflake stencil mask onto a sheet of 8.5”x11” Balmy Blue Cardstock. Tape in place.

  3. Blend Balmy Blue Classic ink over the stencil mask onto the Balmy Blue cardstock using a Blending Brush to create a snowflake pattern. Color blending does not need to be even.

  4. Remove mask and cut finished snowflake piece to 5.5”x3”.

  5. Center left to right and mount the 5.5”x3”. snowflake piece to card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  6. Cut out a striped strip (1/2” x 3.75) from the PENGUIN PLAYMATES DESIGNER SERIES PAPER.

  7. Mount striped paper piece to the bottom of the snowflake background. See card for placement.

  8. Cut out the Polar Bear from the PENGUIN PLAYMATES DESIGNER SERIES PAPER. Adhere to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Do not ADHERE the bear PAWS as this point. Just the body. The PAWS should float. See card for placement.

  9. Stamp two balloon images in each color; Misty Moonlight, Soft Sea Foam and Fresh Freesia. Cut out.

  10. Cut six 2 inch pieces of white baker’s twine. Adhere one end of each piece of twine to backside of each balloon. Use a Stampin’ Dimensional to hold in place.

  11. Arrange and adhere balloons to card using a Stampin’ Dimensional. See card for placement. Note: Balloon strings will hang down.

  12. Gather balloon strings together and tack behind the Polar Bear paws. Three strings for each paw. Adhere bear paws to top of strings.

  13. Stamp ‘Happy Birthday’ greeting in Misty Moonlight three times in a row onto a 3”x 1/2” piece of Basic White cardstock.

  14. Adhere greeting to the top of the Bear. See card for placement.

  15. Add 2-4 Opal Rounds to card front in open areas. See card for suggested placement.

WANT MORE? My bonus project is available in the monthly tutorial along with 5 other exclusive projects.

A sweet card for a sweet friend! We are CASING the amazing @tinkermom85 this week @global_design_project - I love how Wendy stamped on patterned paper to add a quick pop of color. I took a similar approach and stamped the berries from the 'Filled with Sweetness' stamp set onto red patterned paper. The green stems were stamped directly onto Garden Green cardstock and then cut out and layered onto the red berries. Play along and tag your project #gdp544 The acronym CASE typically stands for Copy And Share Everything (or sometimes Copy And Selectively Edit). It refers to finding inspiration in another person's card design-such as layout, colors, or techniques, and recreating it, either exactly or with minor changes. #stampinup #filledwithsweetness #cardmaker #cardmakingideas

When I think of pastel I think watercolor. For this month our 'Use Your Stash' theme is PRETTY PASTEL. I pulled out the 'Good Greetings' stamp set and heat set the large greeting with white emboss powder. This greeting is so pretty. Then, I water painted a peachy color over the top for a soft & airy look. For the flowers I painted a few pink and peach multi-color washes and then punch out using various flower punches. The flower centers are irridescent rhinestones. Stampin' Up! products you can still purchase: Basic White cardstock, Fluid 100 watercolor Ink colors: Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Cloud Cover I can't wait to see what my friends pulled out from their stashes for this challenge.
