Catching Fire

Awesome time last night at a late night showing of the Hunger Games Catching Fire with Andrew and Ben. Our Theater was packed and it was exciting to see the movie with so many fans and cheers.

IMO the movie was excellent. Perfect adaptation from the book and so well done. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing. Worth seeing. I'm sure we will see it again.

It's late start Friday st school so the boys are still snoozing, getting in those lost zzzz from last night - they need it. No extra sleep for me. Nicholas is always up at the buttcrack of dawn. Ug.

Jazz game & life update

This post is a few days late... Like most things around here lately.

Through work, Chris got the opportunity to go to the Jazz game Monday night and had one extra ticket to bring Ben. Andrew had the last opportunity and the Boys take turns when this situation comes up.

Ben and Chris had a nice time in the luxury box and, while the Jazz aren't very good so far this year, had a good time.

In other news:
- Baseball tryouts for spring ball are going on. 2nd tryout tonight. Andrew is doing well. Fingers crossed he makes the team.

- We have smart and awesome kids. Parent teacher conferences went really well.

- Chris finished his 50 page comp paper that is due Friday. Hours and hours of work complete.

- Ben started Futsal and is now playing goalie. He is learning the ropes but is enjoying it.

- Nic loves preschool. Subjects; last week zoo animals, this week families.

- I'm still working hard on our downstairs bathroom. I finished tiling the floor this weekend. Stressed me out. The shower door gets installed today. Now if I can only get that plumber to schedule me in... We will work on trim this weekend.

- trying to get ready for ski season.

- decluttering... Ug

- finished yard work in back yard. Need to hit the garden area and front yard.

- trying to decide if Reba will make it through winter.

- groomed Lucy and realized she has had more hair appointments this year than me.
Lots of other little life events - keeping busy. Happy November.

Trick-or-treat!

Not sure why this didn't post last week.  Better late...

Each kiddo had a super fun night trick-or-treating.  Nicholas got the hang of things quickly and ran door to door, wanting to be the leader. Ben made plans and went with friends for over 4 hours. Andrew spent the first bit with Nicholas and then met up with friends for the last bit. His costume was a hit and appropriately timed. Here are the last of our Halloween photos and some photos from the night.

Side notes: I did a Halloween sampler swap with friends from SU, here is a crappy phone shot, you can really see the detail but I wanted to document it. And, Andrew made this super cool, ceramics pumpkin in school-I love it.

Happy Birthday Andrew

It has been a wonderful day... Andrew turned fourteen today. The last fourteen years really have flown by. Chris and I both vividly remember the day you came into this world and changed our lives forever. We sure love you and are so blessed to learn from you everyday.

We decided to make today a day all about Andrew. As you get older your birthday changes... It's less about friend parties and more about family. Today we honored Andrew with many of his favorite things and show him how much he means to us.

We started today with breakfast out (his choice, IHOP). He spent a good chunk of the day enjoying a Psych marathon (his fav show). And, this afternoon we enjoyed a family party including many of his favorite things... Panda Express-orange chicken, Legos, Texas sheet cake & bundt cake, cookie dough ice cream and Mountain Dew. This kid was spoiled but we were happy to spoil.

Thank you to family who traveled, gave wonderful gifts, and spent the afternoon celebrating with us. We love you.

Happy birthday Andrew!!! Your first 14 years have been awesome and each year just gets better and better.

Side note: fortune cookies are pretty accurate...
