Real Salt Lake - awesome guys!

Andrew was driving with Chris to batting practice yesterday when they spotted the Real Salt Lake soccer team practicing. They pulled over to watch for a while and called me to bring Ben down. Ben put on his Real Jersey and grabbed a marker hoping for an autograph. After practice Ben asked some of the guys to sign his jersey. Such awesome guys, they almost all signed his jersey. They even waited in line to do it! Ben was super excited and got to tell them about his game yesterday, and the goal he scored. Good day for soccer.

Fence finished!

It took all summer but we officially finished the fence painting before summer ended. Our labor day weekend was not labor free. We really like how the painted fence turned out and hopefully have saved us some money and a few more years before we will have to replace it.

Andrew and Benjamin were very excited to finish working on the fence. It was a long project and took them more time than they thought it would. Lot of lessons learned. Now I need to cough up some money and pay them.

Here are a few phone pictures of the results.  In the trampoline shot you can see how the fence painting matched the TREX fence we have on the South side of the yard.  Not too shabby.

Side note: You may also notice that our yard is pretty green and not as many dog spots.  I think this is due to Lucy eating so many tomatoes and somehow changing the chemistry of her messes.  Happy accident I guess. Silly dog.

Foyer Light

When we moved into this home the first thing I wanted to update was our foyer light. Four years later we finally did it! Out with that huge contractor chandelier!!!

After an exhaustive light search, I finally found one I liked at West Elm (eclipse chandelier). We had an electrician come to work on some wiring for our basement bathroom, and while he was here we had him tag on this additional project.

I love how simple and understated this light is. The blown glass is perfect for hiding dust. amazing how a simple update can make such a huge difference.

Thanks Joellyn for validating the light choice!

Apples!

I'm so excited! Our Honeycrisp apple tree produced a few apples for us this year. These apples are so delicious.

Today I picked, cored and dried a few of the apples. Tomorrow I hope to try applesauce and perhaps a pie?! Hmmm.

I've never dried apples before. I hope they turn out. They sure look pretty.
